Recently Adopted Cats

This page shows some of the cats we have recently placed. We have a constantly changing collection of cats looking for good homes and sometimes a match won't work out. Also, for our friends who like to follow cats on our site, we hope to let you know what kind of home they have each gone to.

You can also visit with some of our former foster cats and read their success stories.

Even if your perfect cat is in our adopted group, you can fill out our I'm Interested form or contact us at 503-402-8692 to find out about cats that might not yet be on the site.

Some of our cats have YouTube videos where you can see them in action:

Ladykin & Crackerjack

About a year ago, Ladykin and Crackerjack were orphaned when their beloved person passed away. There were no family members willing or able to take them in. Kindly neighbors knew of the situation, stepped in to care for them temporarily, and then asked us for help in fostering and finding them a new forever home.

Ladykin is a beautiful pure white cat, about 11 years old, and Crackerjack is her handsome pure black son, about 10 years old. While in our foster home, we learned that both mother and son are affectionate, playful, and easygoing. We also learned that Ladykin does not enjoy the company of any cats other than her "baby boy" Crackerjack. We were so fortunate to know a lovely woman named Helena Heartt who had recently lost her feline companion. She was happy to invite Ladykin and Crackerjack into her home.

In January, we were saddened to learn of Helena's passing. Once again there were no family members available to take them, so again Ladykin and Crackerjack were left homeless. A good friend of Helena's took them to her home, hoping Ladykin would be tolerant of her own two cats. Sadly, this hasn't been the case. We are grateful that Ladykin and Crackerjack have been safe, loved, and cared for, but it's not fair to the resident cats, who have constant anxiety about new cats in their home. We are looking for a permanent home where Ladykin and Crackerjack will be safe and secure for the rest of their lives.

Other than not sharing space with other cats, Ladykin and Crackerjack have no special needs or medical issues. Their litter box and house manners are excellent. They are playful but not demanding, have good social skills, and enjoy quiet time with their people.

SesameSesame

When Sesame's former owner lost his job and housing, Sesame found herself at age thirteen with no place to live and no prospects. We took her in and found that her medical needs had been neglected for quite some time. She was severely underweight and had terrible teeth, a coat so matted that she required a complete body shave, and nails untrimmed for so long that they had grown into her toe pads. Sesame must have been so uncomfortable, yet she immediately responded to any bit of attention with endless purring and head butts. Once all her medical issues were resolved, Sesame went to an ARCF foster home to rest and recover.

We discovered that Sesame has a very spunky personality, and she appears to be part Maine Coon. Look at her gorgeous face! And she has enormous feet with big fluffs between her toes. She adores all people, detests all cats, and loves nothing more than being combed, petted, and fussed over. If you haven't pet her quite enough, she will reach out one of those gigantic paws and gently pull your arm back in her direction. We have to admit, when she is being combed, she purrs herself into such happiness that she tends to drool a bit!

Sesame is very fond of her heated bed, her meal times, and a bit of gentle play every day. She asks for very little else, and in return provides calm, devoted companionship. Although she is a lady “of a certain age”, her health is good, she has no special dietary needs, and she is 100% litter box compliant. She doesn't scratch the furniture, climb the curtains, dash for the open door, or stay up all night talking to the moon.

Augusta & Georgiaaugusta and georgia

Augusta and Georgia have never met a cat, dog, or person they didn't like. They also love each other, play time, dinner time, nap time, lap time, day time, and night time. . . actually, we have yet to find anything they don't love. For people who are considering adopting cats for the first time, meeting these girls will make you sorry that you didn't add cats to your family a long time ago.

These two gorgeous tabby girls are very bonded siblings who have been together since they were born in April 2011. They will be adopted as a pair only.

Augusta and Georgia are still kittens in their spunky playfulness, but they are beyond the fragile first few months and the crazy, climbing-the-curtains phase. Although they are very similar in attitude and appearance, it's easy to see that each has a very distinct personality. Augusta is the curious adventurer, who will follow her nose into every available nook and cranny that needs exploring. Georgia, meanwhile, will mosey along behind to see what she's up to, but before long she will be hanging out on your lap, waiting for Augusta to complete her explorations and come back for a cuddle.

Augusta also likes to jump on tall things, and that may include a back bent over the sink for tooth brushing, or any empty shoulder. When it's time to change shoulders, she may choose to take the shortest route, across the top of the head. She's very thoughtful in her technique, but those who aren't comfortable with that sort of coziness should not apply.

Their beautiful coats are soft and shiny, and shed very little. They enjoy being combed and don't mind having their nail trimmed. Their litter box habits and house manners are impeccable, and they have no health issues. They are looking for a home where they can have plenty of love and attention, and they will return it many times over.

Even if you don't see the perfect cat for you in this list, you can start the adoption process by filling out our I'm Interested form or calling 503-402-8692 to find out about cats that haven't been listed here yet.

Esmeralda

Esmeralda is named for the color of her eyes: her name means “emerald” in Spanish. This elegant young lady has a silky medium length coat of black and white, which she keeps impeccably groomed. She was born about September of 2010, so she's still very much a kitten in body and soul. Esmeralda is playful, curious, smart, and a bit sassy.

She loves any and all toys, but she especially adores leaping through the air, making graceful pirouettes and spins, as she pursues flying things at the end of a string. Esmeralda is a bit of a diva and does not care to share her people with any other cats. She is chatty and social, loves meeting new people, and sitting on laps. Although she's always happy to have company, she is used to spending most of the day by herself and can amuse herself very well, as long as there are lots of toys, and a window with a good view of the world outside. Esmerelda

We haven't tested her with dogs but we suspect she would insist on being in charge and might be a little scary to a dog that doesn't have diva cat experience. She would be fine with young children who are respectful of cats. Esmeralda loves being combed and petted, and she always wants to be near people to interact with them, but she doesn't care for being picked up and carried around.

Her personal habits are impeccable: she is tidy with the litter box, and her coat is always clean and silky. She sheds very little and just a light combing once a week or so is all the help she needs to look fabulous. She scratches on her rope post and her cardboard scratcher, and doesn't shred things she shouldn't. She does however expect to be welcomed on the furniture and to share the bed with her people.

Esmeralda was left behind in a rental home when the tenants were evicted and moved out in the middle of the night to avoid the landlord. A neighbor knew a cat lived in the house and convinced the owner to give her access so the cat could be rescued. She asked us for help. We fostered Esmeralda for a month, to give her owners a chance to come back and claim her, if they chose to.

MelodyMelody

Hi, I'm somewhat new to ARCF foster care, but am starting to settle in and get more comfortable and happy every day.

I am only about two years old, but already I've had a tough life. I was abandoned this summer and gave birth to kittens on a nice lady's doorstep. She took me in and contacted ARCF, who got me into a comfy foster home where I could look after my kittens, but shortly after that I got sick and had to have emergency surgery. Luckily I came out of it well and was able to take even better care of my kittens afterward.

Now that my babies have all left the nest and found their own homes, I'm learning to be a young single gal again. I've rediscovered my love of play. Although my absolute favorite toy is Da Bird (you should see how high I can leap when I'm chasing it!), I'm discovering new ways to play every day. Now that I'm not being a responsible mommy, I like eating, sleeping, playing, and visiting with people whenever I like (on my own schedule, of course).

I'm also learning all about pets and belly rubs and cuddles, and how nice people can be. I like to sit next to my foster mom for lots of pets and scratches, and don't even mind when she trims my nails. I'm getting more used to cuddles and discovered that I like to sit in laps. In fact, I just found out that I like to sleep on the bed-what a warm, cozy treat!

Even though I have lots of energy, I'm very well-mannered and grown up. I keep myself awfully clean and always use my litter box. I'm even-tempered and never use my teeth or claws. I get along pretty well with my foster brother and sister after my foster mom gave us a nice slow introduction to each other, so I would be fine being an only cat or joining a family with another cat to be my buddy.

LucySkittles

Lucy is a black and white, short-haired tuxedo female who was born in 2004. She had a rough life (involving tail-pulling and teasing followed by life in a basement) before she came to her foster home. And yet, this resilient girl craves attention and affection, and simply loves people! Lucy immediately took to her foster parents, who think she is a sweetie pie.

Lucy has a lot of personality and energy, and she loves to chase toys on the end of a string. She is self-sufficient alone at home during the day but loves that moment when you comes home and say, "Let's play!" Lucy is re-learning the joys of The Lap, along with getting ear and chin scratches. She's not crazy about being picked up but is slowly learning to trust being off her feet. With time and patience, Lucy will be a super loving girl once she and her trust-o-meter settle into a permanent home with wonderful people.

Lucy is very alert and smart, communicates well, and learns quickly. She loves a window to look outside but has never been outdoors. She is not shy about asking you to stay and play longer, and is delighted to help you work at the computer (i.e., she lays across the space between you and the keyboard, then looks at you with adoring green eyes). She has a sweet, ladylike purr but might get a little worked up if you try to rub her tummy. Her foster people think she will relax nicely, once she is confident about her people and surroundings.

BellaBella

Bella is one of the very few female orange tabbies out there. Only about 1/5 of orange tabbies are female and, in addition to being blessed with a unique color for a girl, she is also blessed with a very special personality.

Bella was born in 2008, so while she's mellowing into her adult personality, she still has enough kitten energy to be playful without being crazy. She was declawed before she came to us, but she still enjoys working her paws on her cardboard scratcher. She also has a collection of toys that are important to her, and she does expect her attendants to spend a little time each day brushing and admiring her very plush coat. Bella is long and lean, and her white bib and mittens are impeccably maintained at all times.

Bella is confident and independent; this girl is curious and quite the explorer. She does not hesitate to check out everything, high and low (as proven by the paw prints her foster mom finds from time to time in obscure cubbyholes). Every now and then the kitten in Bella comes out and she turns into HyperKinetic Kitty, scrambling down the hall and sliding around corners. But once running time is over, Bella is happy to settle back down on her window perch or couch cushion and observe the world around her, both inside and out.

While she starts out cautious, Bella likes people and enjoys being picked up, held, and petted, and will climb onto a lap of her own accord. She is pretty curious about the bed (and why those other cats are sleeping on it), but hasn’t yet determined if the bed is somewhere she wants to settle in for the night.

WilburWilbur

Hi, I'm Wilbur. Remember me from my website listing in March? I took a break from the spotlight for a bit after my brother Oliver was adopted and my foster mom noticed I was losing quite a bit of fur. I was a bit of a puzzle to the vets, but am much better now (although I do look a little funny right now while all of my fur grows back in). My foster dad thinks my name should be "Patches" since my fur is still a bit patchy, but I'll have my luxurious coat back before summer starts.

I was born last May (2010) and rescued after a kind woman started to feed my brother and I. She saw that we were very sweet, tame boys in need of love and attention, so she contacted ARCF for help and now I'm settled in my very cozy foster home. As you can see, I am a very handsome tuxedo boy, with a thin "John Waters" mustache, white chest, and three white socks (I'm sporting a white spot on my other foot).

I am a bit lonely now that my brother has left, but I've made up for it with extra cuddles with my foster parents. Every time my foster mom looks at me, I roll onto my back for belly rubs (not too rough though, or I get a little excited and start to wrestle). I still have some of that kitten in me, since I am less than a year old. Sometimes I am a little cautious when I meet new people, but a calm voice and gentle pets will soon bring me back out for more love and fun.

My perfect family would be ok with me rubbing on their legs and hanging out with them as they read or work on the computer. I like a good scratch so I will need a cat tree or cardboard scratcher. Catnip makes me extra feisty and I will wrestle with my catnip pillow or toys to keep you entertained. I also like to sleep up high from time to time, so I would love to have access to a high shelf or cat tree. A cat companion would be great and I'd even consider living with a dog if they don't chase me.

OliverOliver

After being born in May of 2010, Oliver ventured out looking for food and shelter. When a kind woman started to feed him, he brought his brother over for dinner, too. It didn't take long for their rescuer to realize Oliver and his brother were tame boys in need of love and attention, as well as food. She took them in, had them neutered, and contacted ARCF for help.

Now that he's indoors, Ollie is enjoying the safe indoors, food, love, and many cat toys. Oliver has a large, lopsided moustache. He is quite playful with any moving feather, light, or string. He is also enjoying using his cardboard scratcher. He likes lounging at the top of the cat tree, watching birds and squirrels, or cuddling up in his square cubby bed.

Oliver has lived with dogs and other kitties before, so would be fine accepting a doggie roommate given a proper introduction. He can play a little rough and give gentle nips occasionally, so it would be best if he goes to a home without small children who may not understand his kitty actions.

Pancho_LeftyPancho & Lefty

Pancho and Lefty may have the names of desperadoes, but they are really just a couple of easygoing guys who don’t aim to cause any trouble for anyone. They were pretty wild and crazy as young fellas but now they are mellow and very content to hang out with each other and with their people. They like their toys, and need a little play time every day. After that, a sunny spot on the rug, a perch in front of the window, or a lap in front of the TV, and their day is complete.

We first rescued Pancho and Lefty as kittens. They were adopted and returned to us a few months later when their adopter moved out of state and chose not to take them along. A short time later they were adopted again. After six years this adopter called us to report that she too was moving out of state and again Pancho and Lefty were going to be left behind. We want their next home to be their last home—these boys are sweet, loving, well-behaved cats and they deserve the very best forever home we can find for them.

Pancho and Lefty have lived happily with other cats, and in their current foster home they have become acquainted with dogs and are getting along fine with them. Pancho is the more outgoing of the two, and will be the first to greet a visitor, but Lefty will be the one to sneak onto your lap at the end of the day. PanchoLefty

JewelJewel

Jewel is a beautiful girl with a long, lean body and gorgeous sea-green eyes. She is about two years old.

Jewel’s sleek and shiny coat is a mix of orange and brown tabby colors, with a bit of white on her face and that stunning black “nose liner”. With her graceful, agile movements, and the lynx-like tufts at the tips of her ears, Jewel looks like she just wandered in from the savannah where the wild cats live.

But unlike those big cats, Jewel loves people. She is very interested in what her people are doing, and will follow her foster mom from room to room, eager to monitor all activities, and offer assistance as needed. She is affectionate and enjoys being petted and groomed. She tolerates being picked up, but like most cats, she will soon begin to wiggle and ask to be let down. She likes a lap, but more often will want to curl up nearby where she can keep an eye on things. She is a confident girl with a mind of her own, but is never mean or snippy. When she is quite content, her delicate little purr is a delight.

Jewel’s prior home contained a few too many dogs and cats, and although she apparently tolerated them all, we know she’d prefer to have less competition and craziness in her forever home. She tends to dominate the other cats in her foster home, but enjoys playing with them, so we think she would do best with a playful cat buddy who will let her be the boss. Well-mannered dogs should be fine. She hasn’t been tested with small kids, but we suspect she’d do fine as long as the kids are respectful and understand she doesn’t want to be picked up and lugged around like a stuffed bear.

And Jewel loves toys! Things that roll, fly, crinkle, crunch, and wiggle—all good! She wants some play time with her people every day, but she’s also very good at amusing herself by carrying her toys around and stashing them in her special kitty tent. She also loves her perch by the window where she can keep an eye on bird and squirrel activity.

Eli & Mason Eli & Mason

Hi there, we are Mason and Eli. We are very content in our new foster home but are looking forward to moving into our permanent home where our people can focus on us, please. Our foster home is kind of small but we have a window box where we can go out and enjoy fresh air and sunshine. We really like that! We like seeing the outdoor cats and dogs that come by to say hi. You know what else we really like? Da Bird toy. We could chase that for hours. Eli is really good at leaping from cat tree to cat shelf, back and forth until he can get that feather in his mouth and then show it off. Mason likes the feather toy too, but prefers to let it come to him. Our foster mom is trying to get a video of us to show everyone soon. You can always come and check us out in person; we’re very easy to like, we promise!

When we aren’t in our sun room or chasing feathers, we like to lounge together on our cat tree. We can still watch the birds and squirrels from there and wait for visitors.

Mason meows when he sees foster mommy, but hides for a second until he is sure about strangers (foster daddy is OK, of course!). He can be a bit cautious, but with perseverance and patience he will stretch out in front of you and wait for a belly rub. Eli is braver and likes hanging out near his human.

We were born in May 2010 and we have never been separated and plan on staying together forever. We may not have been socialized and cuddled much when we were babies but we still have lots of love to give as we will sit beside you as you work on your computer or watch you from our perch.

Now our other selling points: As you can see we are both very handsome. Eli with his orange/white tabby markings, has rings on his tail and a goatee on his chin. Mason is a wonderful mix of black and white, with a two-tone ear, goatee, and half moustache. How distinguished! We both are perfect at using our litter box, enjoy wet and dry food, scratch on our cat tree, and in general are really great boys. Why don’t we have a forever home yet? Well…we are looking for a perfect home that will love us for the young, energetic boys we are and allow us to bond to our new person at our own pace. Thanks for checking us out!

Love,

Mason and Eli

Marcus & Miranda

Marcus and Miranda are a lovely pair that we estimate to be about four years old. If you are looking for kitties that won't be climbing the drapes, but still like to have a little fun, they could be a perfect match for you. They can often be found snuggled together or individually in their kitty beds (Hint: a plain old cardboard box with a blanket tucked inside will score you major points with these two).

There is no doubt that these two will make you smile when you come home at the end of the day. When they hear you come in the door, both will be up and ready for a little attention. Scratches on the chin....mmmmm. Behind the ears......ahhhhhhh. These two turn to Jell-O in your lap when it comes to kitty massage time. It might sound like they just like to lounge around, but Marcus and Miranda both have a frisky side. Marcus will chase the laser light endlessly and one of Miranda's favorite activities is playing with the feather wand while perched in the tube of her cat tower. It is also very important to these kitties that they be able to sleep with their person or people on the bed at night. Both are wonderful cuddlers and do a wonderful job acting as snuggly body-warmers throughout the night.

Marcus and Miranda both had hard lives living on the street as strays, and both are very happy to have been given the chance to live the rest of their lives in a warm, comfy home with plenty of food. Oh, we almost forgot to mention food. These two must be in a home where portion control will be maintained. They are currently on a weight control plan and it is important that this continues throughout their lives so that they remain healthy and avoid the risks of obesity.

PetuniaPickle & Petunia

Presenting Pickle and Petunia: please peruse this perfect pair of playful pals! These sweet tabby siblings are about 18 months old, and are looking for a home where they can always be together.

Although Pickle and Petunia have classic gray tabby markings, we suspect there are some Siamese genes in their background. They are curious, playful, agile and very eager to have people for company. You can also see a bit of the Siamese influence in their sleek, lean bodies and classic profiles. They don’t, however, have the vocal stylings of the Siamese; no howling, just some friendly chatting if there is something to report.

Pickles

We would have to say that Petunia would definitely score higher on her SATs than Pickle, and she’s the first to greet visitors and tell them all about her wonderful self. Pickle would need some help with his homework, but he’d be the one to sit with the unpopular kids at lunch and let everyone else have the first turn at games.

These two love their toys—LOTS of toys—and although they can entertain themselves quite well, they expect some play time with their people every day. Petunia especially likes balls that she can smack around (check out her fancy moves in the video!) and they both adore toys on a string that fly through the air.

Although they are small for adult cats they are quite active and Pickle and Petunia will want to romp all over the house and share in whatever activities their people are up to.

Once they've had a good play, they are ready to curl up on a lap and provide purring accompaniment to reading or TV time. Both of them love to get up close and personal and will expect to lounge about on the "people" furniture, including sleeping on the bed.

Pickle and Petunia both adore being brushed and combed daily and are agreeable to having their nails trimmed. They have perfect litter box habits, no special food needs, and they do their scratching on the cardboard scratcher pads and not the furniture. They love to sit by the window and keep an eye on neighborhood activities.

Smudge & Mr. O'Malleysmudge_omalley

Looking at them, you would think that these two kids must be related, but no. They actually met at their current foster home, and have become fast friends now. Both are quiet natured, affectionate, lap cats, and very people-oriented. However, they are also both shy of strangers and unusual situations, so they need a quiet home and people they can get to know and lavish their attention on.

Smudge was born in February of 2006, and is a very ladylike girl who loves to cuddle. She will sit patiently waiting for you to signal that you're ready for her, and then she will rush over and present her head for scratching. She is also a big fan of belly kisses! She has a quiet nature, but does have her perky moments. Smudge came to us traumatized and starving. Because of that she was over-indulged in her first foster home, so she is on a diet and is more than halfway back to her healthy weight.

Mr. O'Malley is approximately two years old, and quite the mellow guy. He is quiet, friendly, enjoys attention, and will happily keep you company as you walk around the house. His favorite activity is to watch birds, squirrels, and other critters from a window perch. He will talk to you in soft meows, and answer if you call him. We often wonder what kinds of conversations he imagines we're having with him. Mr. O'Malley has had urinary crystals and is on a special diet to prevent any recurrence. For convenience, Smudge is on the same diet, and likes it very well.

Mickey & DukeMickey

Mickey and Duke are not brothers, but met and bonded in their foster home and very much enjoy each other's company. Mickey was born in June of 2010, while Duke came into the world two months later in August.

Although Mickey looks part-Siamese (and what a looker he is!), that's where the Siamese characteristics stop. This boy is quite the (amusing) klutz, always tripping off his perch or falling off the bed. This boy is also not much of a talker, although he's got a sweet little meow when he does want to say something. Mickey tends to be a little shy with new people or noises, but when he's feeling comfortable and secure, he is happy to curl up in a warm, cozy lap after wearing himself out playing with the lazer light or his favorite wand toy. Although he loves to play and chase and jump, Mickey is very affectionate and well on his way to being a wonderful lap cat.Duke

Duke is also very affectionate and playful, which makes this pair just about the perfect, adorable duo. One of Duke's favorite places is the bathtub, where he loves to bring small mice and balls. Once Duke has the right toy corraled with him in the bathtub, he loves to chase and pounce on it, skittering around inside the tub. Duke is much more of a talker than Mickey, and has a rusty-sounding, old man meow that lets you know when he's ready for food or to be picked up and loved. Although not as shy as Mickey, Duke is also tentative around new people or activities. Once he's decided he is comfortable, however, he's happy to sit on a shoulder and be carried around the house from his tall perch.

Sally & Sumner

Look at this adorable pair! Sally and Sumner are between one and two years old but they look and act like kittens. We’re not sure if they are litter mates, but they definitely are very good buddies and we’re looking for a home where they can always stay together.

In addition to having the cutest face ever, Sumner has the typical orange tabby personality: he hasn’t met any critter he doesn’t like, including the two-leggeds and the four-leggeds. He didn’t waste any time getting to know the other cats in his foster home, and he’s happy to hang out with the big happy dog, as long as he can stay clear of the big wagging tail. Sumner also loves treats, toys, head butts, belly rubs, and just about everything else he encounters on his travels around the house. He’s happy to greet guests, show them where to sit and where the toys are kept. He doesn’t mind being picked up and carried around, within reason of course. Sally

Sally is a perfect mix of tabby and tortoiseshell personalities—a little bit country and a little bit rock ‘n roll. Her specialty is hunting down and killing small round things that rattle as they move. She also is a very dedicated typing assistant and for those who spend time at a keyboard, she may help you create a new alphabet. She also likes her drinking water really fresh—she’ll get right in the sink and drink from the faucet, if she can. Sally loves to chase and tumble with Sumner, but when she’s ready for a break to go powder her nose and tidy up, she doesn’t have any problem giving him a bop on the nose to remind him who’s the boss of this outfit! And speaking of outfits, look at her gorgeous markings: it looks like she’s wearing a cape draped over one side of her, with a brown tabby leg in front and an orange tabby leg in back.

SumnerBoth Sally and Sumner love to sit in the window and watch the birds and squirrels. They are very good about using their scratching post instead of the furniture, and have impeccable litter box habits. They are a bit on the small side for full grown cats, but they are active and need a home where they have space to romp, with furniture that is cat friendly, and not a lot of delicate objects. They also expect to sleep on the bed with their people.

SimonSimon

Simon is approximately 10 years old. He likes people and enjoys their interaction and companionship. He is an old-fashioned gentleman who likes to pay your lap a visit now and again, but doesn’t often camp out for too long. He is devoted to his patrol-cat role at night to make sure his home and people are all tucked in safely, so doesn’t often curl up at night on the bed.

Simon simply loves the laser pointer and plays quite a bit for a man of his age, but can often be found lying in his favorite chair taking a nap. He loves to sleep in the sun and watch for interesting activity outside, so would love to go to a home where he can perch in some of the windows to keep an eye on outdoor activities. He can be talkative at times and has been known to hold entire (often amusing) conversations with his people.

As you can see from his picture, Simon has a long, lush coat but is very conscientious about grooming (mostly because he’d rather take care of it himself than have you mess up his lovely coif with a brush). Simon is very vocal, especially when he feels it is time for dinner, which is fairly often. For this reason, he needs to go to a home where meal portions can be controlled, despite his imploring looks.

GradyBiscuits & Grady

Although they look like brothers, these two young fellows came to us from completely different circumstances and are not related at all. They were both born about 12-18 months ago and we put them in the same foster home, hoping they would hit it off. That's exactly what happened, so we're looking for a permanent home where Biscuits and Grady can always be together.

Upon meeting new people, Grady is the first to introduce himself, and once he starts talking he may go on at some length. He'll immediately investigate any new toy, box, or bag, climb every mountain, and ford every stream. Well, not really, but he does like to run up and down the cat trees and fly through the air in pursuit of anything interesting, real or imagined. He's very acrobatic and capable of some truly impressive airborne maneuvers. Grady enjoys showing off to wow the spectators. Biscuits

Meanwhile, Biscuits will sneak up alongside you, give a nudge with his head, turn on his big motor, and demonstrate how he got his name: this boy knows how to knead his dough! First he wants lots of petting, and then he'll turn and park himself with his head facing away, which is the cue to get out the comb and get busy doing his hair. He'll enjoy that for an hour or two. Then maybe he'll go grab a little snack and THEN he's ready for play time. Grady will pounce on him and they'll have a chase and rasslin' match, and after that they'll both be ready for some cuddle time.

Both Biscuits and Grady have the typical sweet nature of tabby cats, and their colors and markings are similar. But look closely and you can see that Grady has stunning white eyeliner, while Biscuits has perfect bull's-eye markings on either side. Their personalities are different but complementary, and they make a very agreeable and easy-going pair.

These boys are technically fully grown, but they can get pretty rowdy when they play, so a house full of delicate and irreplaceable objects wouldn't be ideal for them. They like cardboard scratchers, feather toys to chase through the air, and jingle balls or furry mice to bat around the floor. Their litter box habits are excellent, they have no food issues, and both of them truly enjoy being combed several times a day.

eva2Eva

Who will be fortunate enough to have this gorgeous girl? Maybe you???

Eva was born in August of 2008.This gorgeous feline is a Maine Coon—one of the oldest natural breeds in North America. Maine Coons are also one of the largest breeds of domestic cats. Maine Coons are known as "gentle giants" and possess above-average intelligence, making them relatively easy to train. They are known for being loyal to their family and cautious–but not mean–around strangers. They tend to be playful throughout their lives.
Although this beautiful gal is less than two years old, she is wise beyond her years. Eva was rescued from an alley in North Portland with 3 kittens in tow—already her third litter. She was an incredibly loving and attentive mother, but now the kids are grown up and in their own homes, so it’s time for Eva to find her own perfect forever home. She is the perfect mix of playfulness, intelligence, and grace, and is a sweet sensitive soul who will be an incredible addition to any home lucky enough to adopt her.

Eva loves people and is very affectionate. She tends to follow her foster mom around and help with daily chores, and adores being picked up and smothered with hugs and kisses. She is very interactive and her foster family swears she is one of the smartest cats they have ever known. She is calm and intelligent, but still very playful when the mood strikes.

For all she has been through, Eva isn’t above letting he hair down and playing like a kitten without a care in the world! She is very inquisitive and stalks catnip mice with agility and a huntress' determination. When she has "caught all the mice" and played with her favorite toys to her full satisfaction, Eva will nap contentedly in her favorite cat bed in the sun. Her immense plume of a tail and lush coat make her appearance very striking. She is a medium-haired cat that takes minimal grooming due to a light-density undercoat which is mostly self-maintaining.

Carmela & Dexter

Dexter and Carmela are a charming young pair who recently met and found they have quite a lot in common. They’re looking for a home where they can continue their relationship indefinitely. That could be a very long time, since Carmela is only 9 months old and Dexter is about 18 months old.

Dexter came to us first and, as with so many brown tabbies, he had a knack for instantly making friends with people. He seemed not to care one way or the other about cats, but then he met the lovely Carmela, and found himself quite taken with her. They now eat, play, and cuddle together. Both enjoy the company of the other cats in the house, but they like each other best. They also get along with the big dog that shares their space.dexter

Dexter is an incredibly mellow guy who is willing to get up close and personal with his people if it means he’ll get some serious petting. You might think you need to work at your computer or read your newspaper, but what you really need to do is pick Dexter up because he needs more kitty love. It’s easy to indulge him because he’s so soft and silky and never plays rough. Dexter can also be an explorer: he regularly goes on reconnaissance missions to make sure that the contents of any cupboard, closet, or dishwasher are safe for his people. He has great stealth; possibly that wide black stripe down his back provides camouflage.

Carmela is a beautiful brunette with auburn highlights. She has the typical spunky personality and confidence of a tortoiseshell. She also loves attention, and she will tolerate the “one-handed pet.” With her in your lap, and one hand petting, you are allowed to use the other hand to turn the newspaper pages. This budding baker has perfected the art of kneading; just the paws, no nails. She gives wonderful hugs and kisses.carmela

Carmela and Dexter love to play together; sharing a mouse, chasing a feather, or doing contortions around the cat tree poles. Then they cuddle up together and tune out the rest of the world. At night, they like to sleep on the bed with their people, and Carmela especially likes it if she can sneak under the covers.

Ray

Ray is a long and lanky boy who was born in June of 2002. He has matured just enough to be well-mannered but hasn’t lost his “inner kitten.” If you're looking for a chatty cat, Ray sings for his supper. He has a funny meow that's long and slightly melodic, and he isn't afraid to use it when he is hungry or just wants some love. He is not a constant talker but when he has something to say, he does love a good listener! He loves to hear you talk as well, so the conversations are fun!

Ray loves people but is not so crazy about other animals. While not aggressive, Ray has made it clear that people are his favorite – other cats or dogs are not. He likes anything having to do with his people, including sitting in a lap, couch time, sleeping on or near the bed, tummy rubs, and play time with toys.

Ray came to ARCF after his mom passed away in 2009, and has been recovering from the trauma of losing her and his home. He seems to appreciate a strong routine so he knows what to expect at all times. He used to be an indoor/outdoor cat and will probably be happiest in a home where he can come and go at will. Given all of the stress that he has been through over the past few months, we think that Ray will blossom in a permanent home with a cat-savvy person or family who have plenty of love, attention, and patience.

Ray is a big love who simply adores attention, affection, and lots of pets! He has perfected the art of bopping his head against people for required love and attention time. For such a big boy, Ray has a soft purr that he can’t contain when he’s content and pleased. He is a very gentle boy who is looking for companionship and a loving home.
