Available Cats

The cats pictured are only some of the cats available for adoption. We have a constantly changing collection of cats looking for good homes. We try to keep the page up to date, but cats will come and go unexpectedly and we won't always have time to catch up.

All our cats live with volunteers in a home environment where we evaluate them to find out how they interact with people (lap sitter, very outgoing, laid back, a little reserved, good with children); and how they are with other cats (are they loners, do they enjoy another cat's company, perhaps they like a nice dog better than another cat). Knowing these personality traits before adoption helps you choose the best cat for your family, and helps us choose the best families for our cats.

Please note: due to our screening preference to view the potential home and interview the prospective guardian, we rarely adopt out of our local Portland metro area.

Even if you don't see the perfect cat for you right now, you can start the adoption process by filling out our "I'm interested" form or call 503-284-8768 (evenings and weekends), and check on cats that might not be on the site yet.

You can also visit with some of our former foster cats and read their success stories.

Radley & Boo

This brother/sister pair are five years old and are a terrific pair.  They are doing very well with the dogs in their foster home and love the attention of cat friendly children.

To show that attention can run both ways, they will bring their toys to you just so you know that games are welcome.

Boo

Boo is a petite girl with the round face of an American Shorthair.  She is VERY bonded with her brother, Radley.  Boo relies on Radley for a bit of security and comfort, which he is glad to provide.  This sweet, playful girl loves rolling on her back for tummy rubs.  Boo's litter box habits are as impeccable as her brother's, she enjoys calm kids and does well with dogs.  She is spayed and current on all her shots.

Radley is a long haired tabby in sort of a Maine Coon way.  He is quite social and snuggly.   Radley is the kind of guy who likes to be where the  people are, and preferably on a lap.  He is quite playful and especially enjoys the antics of his sister, Boo.   Radley has very good box habits, is good with kids and dogs.  He is neutered and up to date on his shots.

Pearly

This little girl is about a year old and is a delight.  She has the longest tail and seems to be growing into it.  She does not care what you are doing as long as you are touching her, talking to her or playing with her.  She does play well by herself if you have other things to do.

Pearly has not ruffled the feathers of the other cats in her house as she does not care to be the boss of anyone.  She has met two dogs briefly and had no reaction.  With the right introduction, she should be find with other dogs and cats.

Pearly's sweet face says it all.  She is looking for a cat friendly home where she can have a fair share of love and attention for the rest of her life.

Pearl is spayed, finished with her vaccines and has tested negative for FIV and leukemia.

If you are interested in learning more about this darling girl, phone our cat coordinator at 503.284.8768 evenings and weekends or fill out our  "I'm interested" form.

  Gizmo

Benti and Gizmo are a pair of absolute sweethearts.  They are affectionate, playful and interactive cats who really enjoy the company of people.

Gizmo is a classically handsome orange cat with gorgeous bullseye tabby markings on his coat.  He has a warm and friendly personality, and loves to play.  He also enjoys curling up next to you for lots of petting and purring!

Benti is a beautiful medium-length hair black cat, and a real charmer!  She likes to chat, and will want to know how your day went when you get home.  She purrs happily when she gets the affection and attention that she loves.

Benti

This brother/sister pair get along with each other well and make great play-mates for each other.

Born September 2007, Benti and Gizmo are spayed and neutered, up-to-date with their shots, and have tested negative for FIV and Leukemia.

Steve

Steve is a two to three year old bullseye tabby.  He has the sweet nature that all orange tabbies have and is looking for a home where he can safely go outside for just a little bit each day.

We will never know how his eye became injured but he is doing very well without it.  Steve gets along well with other cats and doesn't let alpha types get to him.  He enjoys a lap, doesn't mind being picked up and will make someone a great companion.

He has tested negative for FIV and leukemia, has finished his vaccines and is neutered.

If you are interested in learning more about Steve, phone our cat coordinator at 503.284.8768 evenings and weekends or fill out our "I'm interested" form.

Ferrous

This little guy is the pick of the litter.  He plays hard and he loves hard.  He is great with other cats and cat friendly children of all ages.  He is like a dog -- he flops down and sprawls out just like one.  Ferrous is pretty vocal and is quite attached to his sister.

Ferrous will make a awesome addition to any home and will be sadly missed by his foster family.

Fire

Fire is a very loving and gentle girl.  She loves to run and play with her brother. She has done well with other cats and children but would probably fair better with children 5 and up.  She will make a lovely addition to a home.  Her foster family is enjoying her immensely.

This pair will go to a home together as they are so tightly bonded.

If you are interested in learning more about this pretty pair, phone our cat coordinator at 503.284.8768 evenings and weekends or fill out our "I'm interested" form.

Simon

This eight year old Maine Coon mix is a delight.  He is cautious of strangers for about two seconds and then comes out to see who might like to hear his hearty purr.

He is a good boy about his brushing knowing it is yet another excuse to get more attention out of his people.  Getting enough attention from his people is very important to Simon.

He is doing very well with his foster counter part and has lived with a dog.

He is up to date on his vaccines and has tested negative for FIV and leukemia.

If you are interested in learning more about this handsome guy, phone our cat coordinator at 503.284.8768 evenings and weekends or fill out our "I'm interested" form.

Flora

These sisters were two of seven, all originally named after the elements.  These gorgeous girls were born in the middle of April so are only half grown.

They are high energy girls who play hard during the day and sleep well at night.  Even being spayed did not take away their love of having their tummies rubbed.  And they are very competitive when it comes to tummy rubs.

Water

They do their bird and squirrel hunting from the back of the sofa and stay entertained for hours this way.  Flora's soft brown coloring as well as her purr can bring that blood pressure right down.  Water's tabby on white coloring makes her look quite smart.  She too is quite the lap sitter.

Both are good with the litter box and do well with other cats.  We suspect with the right introduction of a dog, they would be just fine.

Flora and Water have finished their vaccines, are spayed and have tested negative for FIV and leukemia.

If you are interested in learning more about this lively pair, phone our cat coordinator at 503.284.8768 evenings and weekends or fill out our "I'm interested" form.

Beverly

Beverly is a stunning mix of orange and brown tabby, with a touch of the exotic. Check out her elegantly striped left sleeve and stunning red highlights. We think there's a bit of Siamese in her background -- just look at that regal profile, and long, lean body. She's very intelligent, affectionate and playful, but isn't terribly vocal as Siamese can be.

She's a quiet, dignified girl who will appreciate a similar kind of household. Beverly has always been around other cats and kittens and she enjoys playing with them, but her style of play is quite ladylike, and if things get too rough, she will just step aside and find a lap to sit in while she observes the goings-on. Beverly especially likes the track ball toy, and you can see a movie of her playing with her friend Kasey by clicking this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZhGRCkWUEc

She enjoys sitting in sunny windowsills, rearranging all her toys and other adored objects, napping in her pup tent, and sleeping on the bed at night, snuggled up close. Here's another movie of Beverly and Kasey, interrupted from their nap: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyPVlQfN8i0

Beverly was born in late April 2008.  She has is spayed, up to date on vaccines and has been tested negative for FIV and the feline leukemia virus.

Kasey

When Kasey first came to us, she was such a tiny little thing it was hard to tell her age. She hadn't ever been indoors before, and at first was frightened by everything in the house, including toys. But she quickly learned to love the indoor-only lifestyle, and figured out how to get the most mileage out of all the toys. Here's a little video of her with one of her favorites, a little number we call Squiggly Thing on a Stick: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0ABlvcy1g4
She also loves having a blanket or sheet tossed on the floor, that she can run and jump on, bunch up, slide around and hide her toys under.

As Kasey reaped the benefits of a much-improved diet, she suddenly started to fill out and fluff up. She's got one of the long-haired, long-legged breeds in her genes somewhere, maybe Forest Cat or Maine Coon. Her markings are becoming more defined and she's growing those fluffy tufts on her ears and toes that are so charming.  We guess she was born in April 2008.

She was a little rambunctious at first, rough-housing with her fellow foster kittens, but they set limits and taught her how to play nicely. Kasey must have another kitten or playful cat to keep her company; her best pal right now is Beverly and they would love to stay together in their permanent home.

Kasey is up to date on her vaccines, and has tested negative for FIV and the feline leukemia virus and is spayed.

Thor & Freya

Meet Thor and Freya. These adorable cuties had a difficult start in life but have blossomed into happy, cheerful mischief makers, full of fun and curious about everything. Both are cat friendly. They are a little shy at first around people they don't know but soon come out to see who will play with them.

Thor is the adventurous one, always first to check out new places, new people and new things and it looks like he will be a really big boy when he finishes growing.

Freya is the smallest and the quietist, noticeably smaller than her brother, but a real cuddle-bunny when she tires out, enjoying a nice lap and a pet. She could still have a late growth spurt but she may always be a dainty cat.

Born in April, these kittens have tested negative for FIV and leukemia, have finished their vaccines and are spayed and neutered.

If you are interested in learning more about this pair, phone our cat coordinator at 503.284.8768 evenings and weekends or fill out our "I'm interested" form.

Mystro

Mystro is a feisty, cheerful little guy who is looking for a feline buddy to continue his kitty education.  His current foster buddies are doing a fine job getting him started on this.  However, he does "play" hard and still nips and grabs with his paws.

He enjoys playing not only with his foster friends but his mom as well.  He's also discovered that once he's temporarily drained his energy reserve, she has a terrific lap to take a nap on and build it back up.

He has tested negative for FIV and leukemia and has finished his vaccines and has been neutered.  He was born in the middle of May.

If you are interested in learning more about this ball of energy, phone our cat coordinator at 503.284.8768 evenings and weekends or fill out our "I'm interested" form.

Sparky

Sparky's foster mom found him on a street corner just sitting there looking very thin and with a terrible cold.  She couldn't leave him there in that condition so she took him home and nursed him back to health.  He is now fully recovered.

The resident cats have asked that Sparky not be permanent, but will tolerate him until a home is found .. but not for long please.  Sparky has shown no fear or aggression towards other cats or dogs. In fact, he seems to prefer dogs.  Perhaps he sees himself more as a dog than a cat.  He also prefers to be outdoor during the day and will claim a porch as his own.

This gentleman craves human attention and will need a comfortable place to sleep.  He loves to hang out with people, giving head butts and gratefully accepts pets.

When indoors, he has excellent manners with the litter box and his scratching post.  He is happy with wet and dry food.

Although he is a mature cat of middle age, he is a happy, healthy little guy.  Sparky is neutered, negative for FIV and leukemia and finished with his vaccines.

If you are interested in learning more about this sweet, calm guy, phone our cat coordinator at 503.284.8768 evenings and weekends or fill out our "I'm interested" form.

Zeke is a sweet young boy (young adult that is).  He spent a bit of time on the street in his youth  and is still learning to trust.  He’s made HUGE progress in his foster home, and asks for pets, rubs and the like often. Really firm head rubs please.  He is an active cat who loves to play; being good at soccer, chase the feather and find the toy.  He’s the kind of cat who proudly carries his toys in his mouth, and hoards his soccer balls.

Zeke is good with other cats and has done well with the two dogs at his foster home.  He is a strong wirey guy with quite the kink in his tail.  Zeke may be a bit shy with someone new, but he is a confident guy who loves affection, so he’ll warm up quickly.

Zeke

Zeke is about two years old, neutered, negative for FIV and leukemia and finished with his vaccines.

If you are interested in learning more about this athletic guy, phone our cat coordinator at 503.284.8768 evenings and weekends or fill out our "I'm interested" form.

ChiChi

ChiChi is known around her foster home as the snuggle bug. She likes to make her rounds each evening going from lap to lap for some affection and a little nap. This girl can never seem to get enough of snuggling, so if you are looking for a lap cat ChiChi is your girl.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qA54-a77hhM

Minnie

Minnie is a lovely girl who is also quite affectionate. One of Minnie's favorite spots is on your lap watching you type away on the computer keyboard while she waits for kisses. While she sits on your lap she will often gaze in to your eyes and give you a little nudge on the chin with her nose. When she does this, it is very clear that she is saying she loves you.

ChiChi and Minnie also like to spend their days lounging in a sunny window, chattering at all the birds on the feeders.  But all their time is not spent just lying around; they are especially happy when they can get you to pay a game with their "Da Bird" toy so that they can practice their acrobats.

ChiChi and Minnie are beautiful dilute tortoiseshell sisters who are looking for a home together. They are also happy girls because they have the devoted love and attention of great foster parents.

If you are looking for a pair of delightful girls, phone our cat coordinator at 503-284-8768 evenings and weekends or fill out our "I'm interested" form.

Curtis & Muta

These one year old boys are past the kitten crazies, but still love to run and wrestle so you need to be prepared for a certain amount of energy during their high energy times.  At the same time, they require a good amount of lap time.  Whenever their foster mom starts talking to one, the other one comes running.  They both love a good conversation but are not overly vocal.

Muta

This darling one year old boy is a gentle cat.  He loves to sit on his foster mom's lap while she is on the computer.  He soft soaps her by leaning into her, putting his chin on her shoulder and purrs in her ear.  Who can resist that?

Curtis is Muta's cousin (or perhaps stepbrother) and is just as sweet and gentle as Muta is.  Curtis is the self-assigned door greeter and everyone is welcome.  This is a long, tall boy and as you can see, he is quite handsome.  He seems to know how good looking he is, doesn't he?  But he's not conceited in the least and loves everyone.

They have tested negative for FIV and leukemia, are up to date on their vaccines and are neutered.

Sami is a 10 year old Chocolate Siamese mix who has a quiet, sweet presence.  She has a quirky little personality that says she is all princess.  Her picture could be shown under the word "demur" in the dictionary.

Samantha

She does well with the other cats in her foster home but doesn't venture to make any friends.  She has learned how to elbow her way onto her foster mom's lap so she gets center attention.  As we expected, she is a certified lap cat and has an overall sweet disposition.  She's got "terrific companion" written all over her.

She is spayed, has tested negative for FIV and leukemia, is up to date on her vaccines and has had a recent dental.

If you are interested in this very well behaved, gorgeous girl, phone our cat coordinator at 503-284-8768 evenings and weekends or fill out our "I'm interested" form.

Holly & Belle

These beautiful girls are smart, happy cats. They are always looking for a good time, investigating everything, playing with everything and chasing each other from room to room in their own personal game of tag. But when they slow down either or both of them will want to curl up with you for a good cuddle and scratch. And they will both check in with you regularly, just to see how things are going with you.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9BRzigCZEE

Both Holly and Belle are easy to handle but they are somewhat active girls, so they need lots of room and entertainment. Belle is the quieter of the two and more of a lap cat, while Holly is mischievous and playful, but both girls are cautious of strangers ... unless you have a laser pointer, then they forget that anyone or anything else exists.

Their foster mom says that, if she had to give up fostering and pick permanent cats, these are the girls she would choose.

Luka & Chi Chi

Besides being gorgeous tabbies, these darling siblings are "oh so sweet".  They were born in the first week of September, 2007 and are still juveniles with youthful energy.  Chi Chi and Luka are delightfully entertaining and loving.  Their foster family is having a ball with them.

This bonded pair have prior experience living with cats, dogs and cat friendly children.  They are very small and fit very well into a lap and are easy to pick up.

Luka

Luka is a gorgeous bulls-eye tabby with sea foam green eyes who is all girl. However, never fear, she can keep up with her brother.  She has stayed very small.

Chi Chi

ChiChi has his own good looks and took off growing.  Partly spotted, partly striped, he is a very handsome grey tabby. They will not be separated and will only go to a home as a pair.

They are spayed and neutered, up-to-date on their shots and have tested negative for FIV and leukemia.

If you are interested in adopting this happy, healthy very smart pair, please complete our "I'm interested" form or phone our cat coordinator at 503-284-8768 evenings and weekends.

Romeo

This boy's name pretty much says it all.  He is a lover of all things.  He is currently living with a little female kitty who adores him.

Romeo looks like a Manx because he had to have most of his tail amputated due to a severe infection.  It has not affected his gentle, sweet nature one bit.  He is not a large cat, but is built like a bull dog and his short tail helps this look.

Besides a faux Manx tail, Romeo has no meow. He substitutes little quiet hisses or when he really wants your attention, he squeaks.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04JAtcDVlS8

He is between two and three years old, neutered, finished with this year's vaccinations and ready for his new home.

Baxter

Baxter is a eight year old lover of older children and those of us who don't want to grow up. His main goal in life is to have a lap to sit in and good company. He is a Korat mix and lives up to their reputation.

Oh, and there is one other thing that Baxter likes a lot . . . his meals. He needs a firm hand that cannot be coerced into an extra one or two throughout the day.

He would be great company for a single person who doesn't mind a very attentive companion or a family who has the time to devote to him.

He is neutered, up to date on his shots and has tested negative for FIV and leukemia. He recently had his teeth cleaned so he is ready to go.

Smudge

Smudge is a quiet natured girl who loves to cuddle and enjoys belly kisses.  She is cautiously tolerant of other cats and is much more comfortable by herself sharing space with humans.

We find her to be lady-like and a quiet natured lap cat but she does have her perky moments.  She loves her treats but it has to be a certain kind.

Dogs are probably not a good idea for Smudge.

Born the first of February, 2006 she is spayed, has finished her vaccines and is negative for FIV and leukemia.

If you have questions about this delightfully cuddly little girl, fill out our "I'm interested" form or phone our cat coordinator evenings and weekends at 503.284.8768.

L.G.

L.G. (or Little Girl) has a large purr that matches her personality. She is very companionable and loves to spend time on your lap or close to you. Combing and brushing are two of her favorite things.

She is tolerant from a distance of small children so would make a good family cat with older kids. Actually, she feels the same about other cats so would make a great only cat. She plays well by herself, but is not a zippy, overactive cat.

L.G. is about five years old, spayed, up-to-date on her vaccines and has tested negative.

Emily & Bobby

This brother-sister pair are a wonderful combination. Bobby (the buff tabby) is a very quiet, make-no-waves kind of boy. It will take him a little time to adjust to a new lap. His sister on the other hand is an upfront, how are you? kind of girl. Her blue eyes sparkle and we swear she smiles. These two love to play in the evening and can rearrange toys like nobody's business. Bobby and Emily are tightly bonded and will go to their permanent home together. They will not be separated.

This darling pair were born in September of 2006. They have been spayed and neutered, have tested negative for FIV and leukemia and are up-to-date with their vaccines.
